Photoshoot

A couple of weeks ago, two photographers took pictures of Ashyr and me at C of E Park in Emporia. This is a very special place, because it is where Grant proposed to me (next to the tree) almost three years ago. It seemed so surreal to be back at this very spot holding our sweet baby boy.

Resurrection Sunday

We had a most excellent Sunday celebrating our Lord's resurrection. There was a powerful message at church (the best resurrection message I've heard), Ashyr slept through the whole thing, we had great fellowship over breakfast with church family while there, AND I ate a doughnut. Could not have been better. But does get better, because after church we came home to an amazing meal prepared by Grant's parents who came for a very lovely visit and also brought us adorable yellow tulips.

Funny Faces

Ashyr was lying peacefully next me on the couch today with a little smile on his face. I ran to get the camera for a picture (I know, I know I have first time mom syndrome-pictures of every little thing he does). When I got back to take the picture, just before I snapped it, he stirred. This was what I got instead.















I'd say it was a success.

Emporia Trip

We went to Emporia this weekend for a family wedding shower. Ashyr was able to meet his great grandparents and his second cousins for the first time. We took advantage of being there again to hit up two of our favorite Emporia spots: House of Ma and C of E Park. Thanks to Aaron and Jen for such a fun day!

1 Month Old

Ashyr is a month old already. It has been a whirlwind, but I have loved every minute of being his mommy (despite the lack of sleep that comes with the job). He is growing like crazy and has gained over 2 lbs and 2 inches. He has outgrown his bassinet, newborn diapers, and clothes. Ashyr loves to cuddle, bounce on our laps, smile, and he is currently working on his laugh. When we put him on his tummy, he raises his head way up there and starts kicking up a storm. Already preparing his little body for crawling...oh my goodness next thing I know he will be driving. :(

Stroll around Loose Park

The gorgeous weather this weekend called for a trip to Loose Park so Ashyr could try out his stroller for the first time. This has been my favorite time as a family of three so far. Ashyr was perfectly content and was smiling as we cruised along. Must have been pretty relaxing, because it didn't take long until he was sound asleep...

Four Day Weekend

We had a splendid four day weekend. Grant's last day at work was Thursday and he had Friday and Monday off before starting his new job today. We took full advantage of the beautiful weather and did lots of thrift store shopping, checked a bunch of stuff off of the daunting "To Do" list, ran errands all over KC, had people over for Bible study, and watched some b-ball in there too. This weekend was the first time we had been out and about for extended periods of time with the baby and I was a little nervous about it. But he did SO good for us and I think we got the hang of having a baby out in public. We also spent plenty of time relaxing at home while enjoying our little family of three. We just sat on the couch and played with Ashyr for entertainment. :)
